The project started in spring of 2011 and was set up by ex-local authority staff, following some drastic cuts to Learning Disability services in the area.
The project was founded to meet the needs of a handful of individuals who were left unable to find a service. In 2011, the project was supported, received funding and training to get started from West Berkshire Council, for which we remain grateful.
Since the project started it has grown, but remains small enough that everyone knows each other.
We operate out of several different venues. These include village halls and other community venues, such as swimming pools and bowling alleys. We hire the right venue to suit the activities on offer. This allows us to be flexible about group sizes and the things we can do.
Currently some of our favourite venues include St Nicolas Church Hall in the centre of Newbury and Brimpton Village Hall in the Berkshire countryside.
The project is regularly inspected by West Berkshire Council and we always follow the highest standards.
